Herbácea perenne que florece durante verano y otoño, extendiendo el interés de los espacios verdes. Sus flores amarillo dorado se elevan sobre tallos verticales, dando color y atrayendo mariposas y polinizadores al jardín. En invierno se seca casi todo su follaje, volviendo a brotar en primavera. Prefiere lugares soleados y suelos permeables, aunque también prospera en sustratos húmedos, canteros y pastizales.
Siembra superficial, en sustrato húmedo, con exposición a la luz. Las semillas son pequeñas y apenas deben ser cubiertas con arena o sustrato liviano. Riego con lluvia fina.
En condiciones controladas, bajo protección, es posible la siembra durante todo el año.
Época de siembra a suelo directo desde otoño hasta fin de primavera.
Trasplante de plantines con 4 o 5 hojas a su lugar definitivo, dejando 20 cm de distancia entre plantas.
